Review: Life's A Capella by Yessi Smith

Synopsis
I want to tell you how great my life was. How I lived without regrets. With constant laughter. Without any tears. I want to tell you how I lived each moment to the fullest. How each breath I took was fresh and full of life. With eagerness. Without any fear.
I want to tell you all of that, but then my story would be masked with lies and not worth telling.
My life didn't start until I left my past. And I left everything. My mother, my friends, my name.
My new name, the name everyone knows me by is Erin Lewis.
Four years after finding the courage to leave her hometown in Alabama, Erin is finally happy with where her life has led her. Not only is she secure in her environment, but the relationships she has formed center her, making her forget how damaged she once was. Before she can fully settle into her new life, her past crashes into her present, unraveling a set of events that destroy the very foundation she has built her new life on.

My Review

Every now and than you will read a story that just touches you and makes you wish for the best and this is that story. Erin is a girl that has struggled with a lot in her life and she only wants to make things right and forget her past, but the thing about the past is that it always comes back to bite you in the end and the things that you were running from you finally have to face. There were times in this book that I thought that Erin doesn't have to be so harsh and shut everyone out and than there were times when I truly wanted to slap her and tell her to wake up and than I really just wanted to cry for her. I loved the fact that Erin was a strong person and wanted to make a life outside of her old life and that along made me root for her.

Trent was the guy that we all wish we have in our lives. A man that will understand you, be there for you, support you even when he knows that you are wrong and finally that man that will love you unconditionally no matter what you do he will always be there for you. Just when Erin thought that her life was okay tragic strikes and completely throws her for a loop and once again she is back down that rabbit whole that never ends. The things that I loved most about this story is that Erin finally figures out where she belongs and that the one thing that she was looking for or trying to avoid she had all along she just never took the time to stop and smell the roses.

Excerpt

We step out of the car. My wobbly legs can barely hold me up, and I struggle to stay on two feet. Hunter comes to my side, and I clear my throat when he throws me a wicked smile. God, I hate him when he does that. It’s like he’s flaunting off his goods in front of my nose, but doesn't want to give them to me.
Hunter puts his hand on my back. As we walk into the dorm, his hand slips down to my ass. A blush spreads across my cheeks when he squeezes my flesh.
A soft humming sound comes from his mouth, like he’s enjoying the fact that he can touch me like that without repercussions.
The moment I spot my door, I’m devastated. “Wait,” I say, and I turn around toward him. I grab his hand and place it on my waist.
“What are you doing?” he says.
“I want a goodnight kiss,” I say, pursing my lips.
A sexy smile appears on his face. I suck on the bottom part of my lip, and his eyes flick right down to see me do it. Biting his lip in return, he chuckles a little. “You’re seducing me.”
“I just want a kiss. Nothing wrong with that, is there?” I say with one eyebrow raised.
“You’ve really changed,” he says, leaning forward. “I like it.”
His hot mouth crashes into mine, and he starts kissing me fervently. I wrap my arms around his neck as he puts both his hands on my ass. He’s voracious, and pushes himself up against me. A loud thud is audible as we bump into the wall. We’re in the middle of the hallway, making out like crazed teens, and I love it.
We drift to our rooms, stumbling over each other’s feet. I can’t take my mouth off his, he’s that delicious.
But then he does.
My lips feel raw and swollen, and I need his kisses to soothe the pain, but he inches back.
“Don’t stop,” I say, but he grabs my wrists and drapes them off his shoulder.
“You’re tired. I’m tired.” He fakes a yawn.
“No I’m not. You’re just making this up. You don’t want to kiss me.”

I cross my arms below my boobs, making sure they’re nice and perky for him to see. Of course, when his eyes sink to my chest area, I muffle a laugh, feeling victorious.
“Hmm … You don’t even know how much I want to kiss you. I want it so goddamn much, I dream about it. Ever since I met you I've been waking up with a huge hard-on.”
I gulp at those words.
“I also know that when I do put my mouth on yours, I can’t stop,” he continues.
“Then don’t,” I say, hooking my fingers in his pants, urging him to come closer.
“No, I’m holding myself back already, don’t make it so hard on me, please,” he mutters.
“I don’t want you to hold back anymore,” I say.
“I told you before, I don’t do sweet sex. You’re a virgin. Sort of,” he grins, probably thinking about our other night together. “I don’t want to mess this up with you.”
“Why are you so afraid?” I ask, leaning forward to kiss the corner of his lip.
I’ve never been so bold before, but I feel different today. Changed. He’s turned me into a more confident girl. A girl who can handle herself. A girl who goes after what she wants. A woman. Fierce.
He gasps when I kiss his jawline. “God, you’re making this really hard,” he says.
He makes a deep, rumbling sound, alerting all my senses. My hand drifts up his shirt, and I feel my way across his amazingly tight abs that just scream to be touched.
“I don’t think that’s the only thing I’m getting hard,” I whisper close to his ears.

He lets out an exasperated breath. “Fuck. Do you know how hot you sound when you say those dirty things?” he says, chuckling.
“I’ve always wanted you. I’m ready for you,” I say.
My hand searches for the doorknob behind me, and when I find it, I open the door to my room.
Hunter’s everything I dream about. He’s the bad boy that keeps me alert. The guy who awakens my inner desires. The person who makes me overcome my fears and fight. We’re complete opposites, and now I finally understand why they say opposites attract.
I’m not just attracted to him. It’s so much more than that.
I want him to be the one.
“Please …” I murmur close to his ear. “Make me yours.” And then I kiss him one last time on his neck.

“Fuck. That’s it,” Hunter growls. “You asked for it.”
I’m taken by surprise as he grabs my arms and pushes me through the door. He slams it shut behind him, and then smashes his lips onto mine. With his calloused fingers he grabs my face, and his tongue dips out during his fierce kisses. He’s rough, and nibbles on my lip as I desperately try to get closer to him. I want to feel him, to have him, body to body.
He looks at me for just a few seconds with half-mast eyes. “I wasn’t afraid. I didn’t want to hurt your feelings. Nor your pussy.” He licks his lips when he says those words, and I just want to put my tongue right there.
“I wanted to take it slow, give you time to adjust to me, but now you’ve done it,” he says in between kisses. “I’m gonna take you, and I’m gonna fuck you until you scream my name.”
Hunter turns me around, pushes me up against the door, and sinks his mouth to mine. He tastes so delicious, and all I can think of his having his lips all over me. I push my breasts up to his chest, my nipples aching, desperate for his touch, but he’s completely fixated on my lips.
And oh God, the way he kisses me. It’s as if he wants to show me what he can do. Like he’s fucking my mouth.
Frenzied, my fingers latch around his body, trying to fuse with him. Each time Hunter breathes, his hungry eyes open to catch my gaze. My lips feel raw, and they’re buzzing. I love it. He smiles when he sees me wired up because of his rabid kisses.
I reach for the bottom of his shirt and scrunch it up. He raises his arms, letting me jerk it over his head. I still marvel at the sight of his beautiful body, those taut muscles and square pectorals. I love that it’s all mine.

Review

Hunter Bane need I say more, is the perfect guy for me. He's a combo of a bad boy with a good heart and has piercing grey eyes that you can't help but stare at. Aside from that this is a story about a nerd name Autumn ( Leafy) and bad boy Hunter. I was caught up from the beginning when Autumn first stepped off the bus and saw Hunter until the end. I loved the fact that Autumn was the sexy nerd but she never saw herself that was and that Hunter was the bad boy with a heart that never thought that he could be like that. I know that this sounds almost like every typical book that we read now but I must say that it's not. Yes Autumn is a nerd that falls for the bad boy Hunter and of course he has had a difficult life that no one would would understand yada yada yada but I must say that this book had some twists and turns that I never saw coming. There was also a good supporting cast ( here I go sounding like this is a movie) but the other characters in the book were great. They all added something to the story that could have been missing. You have Evie that is Autumn best friend and roommate and you have Jaret that is Hunter's friend and roommate. They both add something to the story line and than you have Brody the Ass who wasn't always like that and Scarlet. There were times in this book that I was like OMG he is such a flirt to OMG I can't believe that he did that, than in the next breath I was like can she really be that stupid and blind, but in the end the story wrapped up like it should and left me wanting more. This was a story about finding out who you are and finding that inner Fierce that everybody has.

Review: Illusion by Ashley Beale

                                                       Synopsis

What if everything you thought you knew was just an illusion?

Everything in Zoey's life was destroyed the day her fiance never made it home from the war. Now being a year later, and still dealing with the horrible tragedy, she makes a move to New York City for her job, hoping to finally start healing.

The last thing Zoey ever expects to find is someone she can feel so comfortable and happy with. Everything about Harvey draws her attention, and she can finally feel herself heal. There are times things seem too perfect, but she tries not to question it much as she holds onto the passion she has for him.

When everything unravels and Zoey is forced to face a truth she can't seem to grasp, she has to make a choice to finally move on, or stay lost in a world of illusion.

Sometimes life is simple, sometimes love is unexpected. Sometimes we're exactly where we need to be, when we need to be there.
Then sometimes everything we thought we knew is just an illusion.

                                                        My Review

First off I'm going to say that I have never read an Ashley Beale Book or heard of her in my life and I'm really disappointed in myself because now I see what I have been missing. This book had me hooked from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down. it's hard to write a review for this book without giving anything away so I will try. This book had me going through every emotion known to men and some that I never thought existed.

This book starts off with Zoey having lost the love of her life and moving to New York. During the course of her time in New York she meets Brice and Harvey and than things start to get interesting. Harvey is the perfect guy for Zoey and she finally accepts the fact that it is okay for her to move on. Throughout the story you also get to see Zoey's life with Kirt (ex fiance) and I really enjoyed seeing how her life was with Kirt. There was a point in this book where I was like YOU GO GIRL and than in the next breathe I was like YOU REALLY GO GIRL. Than I was hit with the WTF moment where I never saw that one coming, than the tears came along and I couldn't believe that happened. Once again I was happy for Zoey and than I was disappointed in her. By the end of the book I was like YES things are the way that they should be.

This book had my emotions all over the place and I was really glad that I had the opportunity to read such a well written and wonderful story. I never really understood what people who suffered PTSD went through and now I have an even greater appreciation to what one can suffer when the lost is so great that you just don't  know how to handle it.

Review: Always You by Missy Johnson

Synopsis
I was thrilled when I was offered a graduate teaching position at the prestigious Tennerson Girls Academy. At twenty-three, this would be my first ‘real’ teaching assignment. Working at the elite boarding school, home to the daughters of some of the wealthiest people in the world, was a great opportunity that I would've been stupid to pass up.

One week into my new job, and I suddenly had no idea why I chose high school…I was a seventeen year old boy once, I knew how teenage girls behaved.

You can’t even imagine the hell of trying to teach thirty, hormonal driven seventeen year olds who have been cooped up, away from any male contact.

I could handle the whispers every time I entered the room. I could even handle the obvious attempts at gaining my attention. What I couldn't handle was her…

Rich bitches and way too many rules. Was it any wonder that I hated school?

Add to that the lack of male contact, and I was going insane. Like literally. I wasn't used to this. A year ago I was normal. I had a boyfriend, friends and a loving family. There is nothing normal about me anymore, and nobody here lets me forget that.

My name is Wrenn, and I’m only here because my aunt took me in after what happened, but my aunt also happens to be the headmistress of this academy…Can you see my problem?

I’m hated for my lack of money, and I’m hated for who my Aunt is.

Then he arrived. Dalton Reed. My new history teacher.

Slowly, he helped me see that even in the worst situations, there is always hope.

                                                           My Review

I love teacher student books because they are about forbidden love or a love that should not be, that is why I couldn't wait to read this and I must say that it did not disappoint. Missy had me from beginning to end with the relationship between Dalton and Wrenn. I loved the fact that they meet each other before but neither could remember it happening and that the one thing that Wrenn said to Dalton when they were young was the thing that kept him going.

Wrenn was a girl that had her whole life taken from her in the blink of eye and than she had to uproot her life to go stay with her aunt. Dalton was living his life in denial not wanting to know the outcome of his fate or what a simple test could mean for him. He meets Wrenn and all of that changes, now he is looking at things differently and wanting a life that he never thought could be possible. Wrenn was the type of girl that gave up on life and than she finally saw something that she wanted and decided to go for it. I loved the fact that Wrenn was the one that was pushing for the whole relationship issue and that Dalton was fighting her tooth and nail.

This was not all about love at first sight there was also a story line behind it and with every great read there is always a crisis or an issue that makes you love the characters even more and this story had that also. I love to see how characters overcome obstacles that are in there way to get to the endgame.

Review: Infinity Unleashed by Sedona Venez

A new adult story of Betrayal. Sex. Addiction. Love. And Power...
Mason's diabolical plan had actually worked.
In a matter of minutes he had kidnapped me, stripping me of everything...money, family, and freedom. It was humbling, depressing, and damn infuriating but I refuse to go down without a fight. I refuse to be defeated.
Boulder will find me. I didn't know how, but I felt it deep in my soul.
Boulder...the one man that made my body quake with just one look. It was madness. There was so much I didn't know about him. For that matter, there was so much that he didn't know about me…like the evil darkness lurking inside me, waiting to be unleashed.
Could he accept me without judging?
That's where most men failed. Accepting the real me. But after years of hardening my heart, and sealing it behind a steel cage, I was ready to give myself to him freely. Knowing, that he planned to take everything I offered with both hands, until all I thought of...and wanted...was him…
My Review:
This book starts off right where the first book left off at. Infinity was kidnapped by Mason and Infinity being who she is she puts up a fight with him demanding to be let go. I love every character in this book because they all offer something to the story. Infinity is the girl that can determine what will happen but she also has a evil side to her that is itching to get out. boulder is the wolf that is Infinity's true mate and the one person that can tame her. Mason is the tiger shifter that want to take over the kingdom and run things with the help of Infinity and what would a good story be without a vampire, Alik is the one person that can bring out Infinity's evil side and she is drawn to him in a way that she can't explain.
In this book we find out more about Infinity and Boulder and their purpose in the whole scheme of things. We also find out more about Kara and who she really is and the control that Cortez has over her. This book had me at times going WTF and OMG I can't believe that happened. I must warn you that this book has a CLIFF HANGER and you will be saying NOOOOOOOOOO it can't end like this and why do I have to wait to read the rest of the story. This is definitely a must read and if you haven't read the first book in the ser than that is a must.  Sedona is making her way to the top of my list of best authors that everyone must read.
